Successful interviews occur when your have a strategy, are well prepared, confident and empowered with the knowledge of your expertise. It is important to focus on your performance regardless of what may be going on around you! A TV set is bustling with activity and a whirlwind of hurry up-wait. Even the interview can easily go astray if you are not prepared and comfy in your skin. A great interviewer has read your materials and prepared your questions based upon your pre-interviews. If you are asked something that either you do no know the answer to, or covers a topic that you would rather no address, do not panic! Here is the way to handle it: 1. Pause. Smile. Take a breadth. Repeat the question (which gives you a few more seconds to create your answer) and then begin with, “In my opinion” or “In my experience”. These phrases relieve you from the responsibility of knowing the empirical answer to the question and focuses your answer on your personal opinion. The other possibility for you is to simply say, “What a great question! I will have to research that and get back to you! Then offer your opinion…” Remember that you are the expert on YOUR experience as an expert in your field. If you rely upon your intuitive and professional experience that you will always do a terrific job in life and inane interview! Rock on!
